Compact Machine Design

No need to worry about a machine that will take up a lot of counter space – this one right here is a compact machine that will take up minimal counter space.

Krups tends to make higher-end and lower-end versions of its coffee machine models, and this is certainly a lower-end style one. It looks good, but the construction is virtually all plastic.

About the only place you’ll find stainless-steel is the boiler, which has led to a few complaints about its longevity, although the two-year warranty should allay most concerns along those lines.

Large Sealed Hopper

This machine has a large sealed hopper, which means the aromatic coffee beans are kept fresh and it is capable of holding enough so that you can prepare numerous drinks in a row.

Fully-Automatic System and User-Friendly Control Panel

This is a fully-automatic system, which means anyone will be able to enjoy that perfect cup of coffee, even if you’re a beginner and have never made coffee before.

The control panel is easy to use, even beginners will be able to use it. The control panel has a nice LCD screen and an ergonomic knob that will make it so that you can navigate through every step of the process.

From the Bean to the Cup at a Touch of a Button

Precision, passion and perfection – this coffee machine is built with those three attributes in mind. This fully automatic machine has been labeled as one of the most compact machines currently on the market. The machine was manufactured in France and every single unit was put through a series of test before being placed on the store shelves.

The Water Tank and the Water Filter

Check Amazon Price

The water reservoir is located at the back of the machine.

Despite the fact that the unit is quite small, it’s got an impressive 60-ounce water tank with a water filter, which almost makes you completely forget the need for periodic descaling.

While I recognize the value of the water filter in terms of cutting down on your routine maintenance, there are other ways to accomplish the same goal. For instance, use distilled water, or if your kitchen sink already has a water filter attached, then the coffee machine filter is almost unnecessary.

Built-in Grinder

This automatic coffee machine comes with a metallical burr and conical grinder so you can rest with the satisfaction of knowing the ground coffee will always be fresh and consistent in terms of size.

The coffee machine also has a total of 1450 watts of power and with its integrated burr grinder, you will be able to quickly grind up whole aromatic coffee beans before you brew them. If you would like to adjust the grind settings, that is easy to do – you can have super fine for espresso, or coarse for coffee (those are the two settings that I believe work the best).

The top-loading bean container holds 9.6 ounces of coffee beans, and at that size, is well-paired with the size of the water tank, which is another point in favour, as I wrote above, of the Krups EA8250 Espresseria.

Some coffee machines models have different size water tank and coffee beans container and I find this a bit annoying because it means that you’ll constantly have to attend to one or the other of them and the machine design looks not symmetrical. That’s not a problem here!

I found two significant problems with the Espresseria’s grinder.

One of them is that the conical grinder uses stainless-steel burrs.  That also means that stainless-steel material heats as you use it, which can result in burnt grounds that can completely ruin the flavour of whatever drink you’re making.  Ceramic burrs would have been far better, and their absence is a minus little point for me in my review.

The second problem I see is that they existing only three different grind settings. That is very important because, how fine you grind your coffee beans makes very much difference in terms of how your coffee drink tastes and you cannot create any flavor fine-tuning.

Newcomers to the coffee-world of various coffee drinks probably won’t mind this much, but if you decide you want to explore this world deeper, then you’ll quickly upgrade your coffee machine.

Perfectionists, of course, will hate this little problem and it’s better for them to buy a higher-level machine with more grinding levels.

KRUPS EA8250 Espresseria Super Automatic Espresso Machine

Another small “missing part” I see is that the Krups EA8250 Espresseria does not have a bypass doser, so there’s no option of using pre-ground coffee here.

Thermoblock Heating Technology

This coffee automatic machine is using the Thermoblock heating technology in order to ensure the best shot of espresso each time.

Unique Patented System

The unique patented thermoblock system is a big hit. Not only will this amazing technology help the machine heat up at a much faster rate, it will also guarantee a perfect temperature, perfect tamping and time management.

The Boiler System of the coffee machine

The Krups EA8250 Espresseria has a single aluminum, stainless-steel boiler that utilizes ThermoBlock technology. That means that it heats and adjusts temperature quickly between brewing coffee and steaming milk.

More expensive models frequently use double boilers, which allow you the same time to steam milk and brew coffee, and I like this system better.  Of course this is not a deal breaker because the machine is fast and the time you spend waiting for the boiler to shift gears is measured in seconds, rather than minutes.

Krups EA8250 Espresseria and its Brew Unit and Control System

Krups EA8250 Espresseria has not a removable brew unit.

On the top of the machine, you’ll find a small slot. That is where you can place the cleansing tablet when it’s time to give the brew unit a real good clean about once a week, if you use the coffee machine often enough.

The control unit, as I mentioned shortly above, is remarkably simple and makes excellent use of LCD technology. The company created a simple, intuitive menu system with prompts that are very easy to follow. Of course, one of reason about that is the fact that the model doesn’t have a vast number of features like you’ll find on more expensive machines.  Few of the design choices the company made on this front are a bit unusual but not necessarily bad.

For example, you can save only your preference for water temperature as only customization option for every kind of drink you can make.  You can also adjust the amount of water flowing into the cup, but if you want something other than the default setting, you’ve got to change it via the central control button while your drink is brewing as an active participation, and there’s no way to save your preferred setting on that score.

Krups EA8250 Espresseria is not quite the one touch coffee machine, but you can just turn the control knob to the drink you want, push the button and go, so during the preparation, you may not deviate from the default settings programmed for each drink in any situation.

Your coffee drinks selection includes:

  • Espresso
  • Americano
  • Café Latte
  • Cappuccino

Which is more than enough for the most every day users and coffee lovers.

As with most other super-automatics, you can also plan auto start to heat the machine up and auto shutoff times, although you cannot order the machine to brew a drink via these settings but this is not so important.

Milk Frothing

This feature of Krups EA8250 Espresseria gets high marks!!!

It offers two different milk frothing options: You can either use the auto-frother, or you can use the frothing wand.

The auto-frother is very interesting although it is a bit cumbersome.

The Krups Espresseria Automatic EA 8250 comes with a single-walled stainless-steel carafe with a plastic tube attachment.  On the tube, you’ll find an adjustment button that you can set the selection for Café Latte or Cappuccino and you can both of those drinks.

On the other hand, if you’d rather want to create your coffee as a Barista you can use the frothing wand.  May be the first few milk-based drinks you prepare with the frothing wand don’t turn out quite as you expected but after some practice you will be a pro.

This is a nice touch and one thing that’s sure to please coffee purists.  Unfortunately, that addition alone probably isn’t enough to sway many purists to buy the machine, because it is offset by the lack of grind options and the relative lack of control over other aspects of creating your favorite specialty drink.

The frothing wand also serves as a hot water dispenser, allowing you to make teas, hot chocolate and other hot drinks with the machine.

The Pump of the automatic coffee machine

In this part of my review I’ll inform you about the pump and the espresso you can prepare with it especially if you’re new to the world of espresso and coffee drinks.

Unlike a drip-brew machine, which needs the gravity to get the water through the grounds and into a waiting cup or pot, automatic espresso machines depend on the pressure for brewing.  Pressure is measured in bars, with one bar being equal to atmospheric pressure at sea level.

To create a good shot of espresso you need nine bars of pressure, and this model has a pump rated up to fifteen bars and that’s why you can expect consistently good brewing results.

Cup Warming Tray

Here I’ll inform you for two things.

The first is that Krups EA8250 has a warming tray, located on top of the machine, and the second is that you should use it.

Cup warming trays are very important because specialty coffee drinks are meant to be enjoyed at certain temperatures. Many casual users realize it too, after preparing few cups of coffee without using it.

This is mainly the case with milk-based drinks because you can’t steam milk at temperatures close to your brewed coffee. That means that the milk foam is colder and when you mix it with the espresso coffee, you’re going to lose heat.  If you dispense your drink into a cold cup, you’re going to lose even more together with coffee taste.

That’s the hidden value of the cup warming tray, and it makes a much bigger difference than you might imagine.  Test it out and see for yourself.  Prepare a cappuccino without using the cup warming tray and after this make a second one using it.  You’ll be amazed at the difference.

Very Easy to Use & Clean

There are two things that make the Krups EA8250 Espresseria easy to use.

First of all is the effective use of LCD technology that displays all the information you need in a clear, easy to understand format and makes it a great coffee machine for beginners!

The cleaning is very easy too. All is automatic and Krups has made it very easy to remember too, because there’s a quick help guide built into the machine, hidden by a black plastic panel. Pull the tab to release the book, and you’ll be staring at a durable, colourful booklet made with plastic-coated pages that will step you through all the necessary maintenance routines you need to perform. The also provide numbers to their support lines, and other related information. This makes this model particularly user-friendly.

Krups EA8250 Review Conclusion

I believe that my Krups EA8250 Espresseria review didn’t leave you with the feeling  that I don’t like it because I really do!!!

It’s a very good automatic coffee machine for what it is and prepares a very tasty espresso and americano.

It’s a basic, low-priced super-automatic espresso machine, ideal for new users and those looking to enjoy the coffee-shop experience at home fast, simple and easy.

With this Krups automatic machine, you really cannot go wrong. The LCD screen is easy to read, the ergonomic knob is nice and the menu is easy to navigate through, so you can easily choose your espresso and coffee drink, the number of cups you need brewed and a whole lot more.

Cleaning the machine is also easy to do. Overall, this is one of the best machines currently on the market and with a really low price and I can’t see why you wouldn’t want it at home or in the office.

The machine delivers very good results and that’s why we can forget the significant small difficulties of the grinder and customization options.

If you’re okay with that compromise, then this machine will feel like a dream come true.  If not, the best is to still keep looking for another one but with a higher price.  And of course, there’s a better fit in the coffee machines market for you.
